Bathrooms

As the most “private” areas of your home, bathrooms should bring both glamour and comfort to you and your guests.

We are experts at creating a warm and stylish personal experience in your new bathroom. We don’t believe that bathrooms have to be rectangles or squares, unless you want them to be. We do believe that cabinets, lighting, placement of the tub, toilet and shower and numerous other features can create a room that’s both functional and fabulous. Our many “finishing touches” that have made home owners happy include:

  • Raising the vanity height to be more comfortable
  • Adding warming floor systems or built-in heated towel bars
  • Ensuring that lighting does not create shadows, especially in areas where personal grooming takes place
  • Incorporating storage to accommodate linens and keep countertops uncluttered
  • Having electrical outlets behind the vanity so that hair dryers, curling devices, shavers and other grooming appliances can stay in drawers for convenient usage

Be sure your bath is organized around your needs. Let Tennessee Craftsmen make it both glamorous and functional.

Bathroom 1

Before A builder grade metal door frame shower was upgraded with natural stone, heavy glass and oil rubbed bronze finishes pulsing water from overhead, shower head, body sprays and hand held shower. Natural stone was used as a tub surround. Without replacing the vanities, the height was raised and granite added with under mount sinks. Sheet mirrors were replaced with framed mirrors. Lighting was enhanced with new vanity lights and 8 can lights. Interior view of custom tile shower. A local artist added a “knock down” technique to the walls to finish a look quite glamorous.

Bathroom 2

A 5’x7’ bathroom, dark, bathtub against the outside wall and the bathroom door swings into the bathroom. What are the possibilities? Interior of custom tile shower. To gain space within the new bathroom, a pocket door installed, a toilet with 14” wide tank and a custom vessel sink built on top of a small family table. Demo the bathtub and rotten wood frame window. Build a custom shower with glass block window – ceiling shower sprays, handheld shower with Kohler Watertile shower finishes. The shower and bathroom tile reflect the sports interest of the owner.

The same natural stone design was carried over into the Jacuzzi area. Our client desired some height to the bathing tub so a step was added to the front tub apron. The wall stone is carried around the perimeter and joins the double under-mounted sink granite vanity top. One wall of the shower is glass block to bring natural light into the shower. The bathroom had been sub-divided by the builder into two sections that made no sense. To fix the problem, the entrance into the bathroom was shifted, a Jacuzzi tub was added, the former bathtub was removed and the shower enlarged. The vanity was moved and extra wall cabinet added for supplies for the coffee bar.The toilet was tucked away in a water closet. The custom shower has valves and diverters to enable the bather to select water from a rain bucket, hand-held wand, shower head, body sprays, or any combination. The steam shower is controlled by a thermostat. We installed a bench for reclining. Heavy glass was used for the shower door. Two recessed lights in the shower, several in the ceiling, and the vanity lights are controlled by dimmer switches.

Two walls were extended to frame a doorway opening into the bathroom. A toilet and pedestal sink with stone wainscoting completed the project. We built a shower without a door where the entire bathroom floor slopes to the shower drain. The shower head is in the tallest corner of the shower focused diagonally into the shower. Perhaps the strangest initial client request – make a shower from a closet space 3’ x 3’ x 60” height with the shower ceiling following the slope of ceiling rafters. Actually turned out very cool - A powder room adjacent to a closet became a bathroom. Two walls were extended to frame a doorway opening into the bathroom.
